Program Overview

By combining the most advanced diagnostic imaging technology, contemporary laboratory testing, and ample time, physicians and staff of the Rose Center for Preventive Medicine perform the most thorough health evaluation currently available. Our goals are simple – identify health risks and modify them; diagnose disease before symptoms appear at a stage when cure is possible; teach optimal health habits; and provide peace of mind. Prevention is the key to a long, healthy life!

The comprehensive exam includes:

  • An unhurried, all-inclusive medical history and physical examination focusing on lifestyle, nutrition, fitness and flexibility, medications (including vitamins and supplements), family and genetic history, as well as a detailed assessment of all symptoms and health concerns.
  • A complete set of laboratory tests that include the most contemporary screening for heart and vascular risks, advanced lipid (cholesterol) analysis, diabetes, liver and kidney dysfunction, metabolic problems and cancer.
  • 64-slice CT scan. Using this state-of-the-art technology it is now possible in only a few minutes to examine your coronary arteries, major blood vessels, lungs, and the solid organs of your abdomen. Rose radiologists work collaboratively with our clinicians to provide the best, most accurate interpretation of your CT scan.
  • Carotid Artery Ultrasound. With highly sensitive ultrasound equipment your carotid arteries can be seen and measured. The carotid arteries are vital because they supply your brain with oxygen-rich blood. They are also important because their thickness reflects the health of your coronary arteries. The thicker the carotid arterial wall, the greater the risk for heart attack or stroke.
  • Abdominal ultrasound. Using this form of imaging we will be able to evaluate your abdominal aorta for possible, correctable aneurysms, as well as very organs located in the abdomen. This type of exam does not expose you to any radiation.
  • Oral cancer screen. Oral cancers can be difficult to see in normal incandescent light and are often not diagnosed until the late stages. We use the ViziLite illumination system and a thorough oral examination to screen for oral cancers at an early curable stage.
  • Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. A digital blood pressure monitor can be worn to provide multiple accurate BP readings throughout the day and night without concern about “white coat” hypertension. Before beginning a lifetime of blood pressure medications, you should be certain that your blood pressure is truly elevated during your normal daily activities.
  • Bone density testing. A sensitive bone density test can reveal early bone loss that can be reversed with appropriate diet, exercise and medical therapy.
  • Audiometry (hearing test) can detect early, correctable hearing loss.
  • Consultation. You will have all the time you need with your physician to review all results, see your body CT images, and most importantly, develop a personal plan for healthy living. At the end of the day you will know more about your health than you ever thought possible. We firmly believe that knowledge is the best medicine.
